Wynwood Miami, will soon have a colorful crosswalk designed by kinetic artist Carlos Cruz-Diez, the first of many artist-designed crosswalks planned for Wynwood by the Miami Biennale. This first crosswalk, in the series entitled ‘Wynwood Ways’, will be in front of the late developer (and long-time Wynwood supporter) Tony Goldman’s Wynwood Walls ‘outdoor street art museum’.

Earlier today, Palm Beach Modern Auctions made available a large collection of photographs and memorabilia from Studio 54′s decadent history — many from club owner Steve Rubell’s personal estate. The auction includes hundreds of paparazzi photos of celebrities including Richard Gere, Lauren Bacall, Sophia Loren, Sylvester Stallone, Joan Rivers, Ryan O’Neal, Farrah Fawcett, Brooke Shields, Bianca Jagger, Halston, Truman Capote, Liza Minnelli, Andy Warhol, Diana Ross, Michael Jackson & Elton John. Also offered at auction are original invitations to special events, VIP drink tickets, Studio 54 guestbook and other ephemera, including many handwritten celebrity letters. The collection includes original works of fine art such as a bronze dollar sign sculpture by Andy Warhol, plus several of Warhol polaroid’s.

Artist and performer Nick Cave has created 30 of his signature Soundsuits (in the shape of horses) for an installation in New York’s Grand Central Terminal, which will run from March 25 to 31. The piece, entitled “Heard-NY” and co-presented by Creative Time and MTA Arts for Transit, is Cave’s first public artwork in New York City. Each soundsuit will be animated by two dancers, “grazing” in the station and periodically breaking out into dance when accompanied by the music of two harpists. When they’re not activated by dancers, the horse costumes will stand idle in the station’s Vanderbilt Hall.

Developed by Diego Agullo and Dmitry Paranyushkin, the Humping Pact aims to redeem under-appreciated locations by combining performance art with photography and video documentation, accessible online or at their exhibitions. The twosome simulate sexual acts with each location, literally. They’re shot multiple times from the exact same angle while the two naked artists’ positions change. The takes are then edited in order to be looped, resulting in video or photographic pieces featuring scenes of environment-human orgies in cities such as Brussels, Berlin, Copenhagen, Liepaja, Vienna and Frankfurt.

Paolo Cirio creates real-life replicas of people captured by Google’s Street View cars, then pastes them into the locations they were photographed. The Italian artist blows up, then prints out the Google images, then visits the precise spot they were captured by the Street View car. Using wheat paste, he glues their life-sized likenesses to where they appear on Google Maps, creating an ephemeral feedback loop between the on- and offline world.

Right now, the ghosts have only been found in New York, London and Berlin.

The video, directed by Grimes herself, (Claire Boucher) has no shortage of visual spectacle; from great styling and locations to awesome hipster mugging. The song doesn’t suck either. FREE PUSSY RIOT!

Russian feminist punk-rock collective Pussy Riot have been convicted and sentenced to 2 years in prison after their anti-Putin protest performance at a Moscow cathedral back in March. The judges argument against their public disobedience and hooliganism was ‘feminism creating religious hatred.’ The trio - Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Maria Alekhina, and Yekaterina Samutsevich – have received worldwide support including music stars Madonna, Björk, and Paul McCartney. Dirty Girl Peaches has released her own song and video (below) in protest entitled ‘Free Pussy Riot’ alongside others such as Lykke Li, The Hives, and Peter Bjorn and John.
